Title track from The Brand New Heavies Brother, Sister. This song is the truth.

P School | Ain't No Stoppin Us Now

My mom says this was one of my favorite joints as a 80sbby. RIP to both McFadden and Whitehead.

'95 | We can make war or make babies

Epic duet that is the epitome of hip-hop/R&B collaborations. I also enjoy the soul mix.

P School | Strung Out

The sample used for the 'Reminisce' video for today.

P School | Family Reunion

That's where most of today. Chillin' in an non-air conditioned community center battling over the last piece of chicken. I'll chill with the cousins I know, those closest to me. Pray for me. jk lol

P School | Rock Creek Park

Just do it.

'09 | BLACKsummers'night, Maxwell

Take a break from your scavenger hunt for Michael material to be blessed with what will be one of the best R&B albums of the year. Yesterday Maxwell released the highly-anticipated BLACKsummers'night, his first studio album since 2001's Now. The nine-track set envelopes listeners to a sound of R&B from the past, similar to the work of Al Green who Maxwell honored in his comeback performance at last year's BET Awards. On the push of the first single "Pretty Wings," a somber swan song to a lost love, Maxwell works effortlessly to evoke such emotion and honesty in his lyrics that current R&B has missed. In "Cold" he urgently describes the woman whose frozen his heart on top of warm horns. And with "Fistful of Tears" he tackles the lamenting compromises it takes to keep a relationship's love alive. Even the ending instrumental "Pheonix Rise" is electrifying, signaling the return of a true artist and the return of R&B music to the fullest. No featured rap artist or auto-tune.

'97 | Whatcha gon' do when they come for you

Beautiful telling of a all too common struggle in black love. Badu is torn between the love for her man and his "complex occupation."

P School | Never Can Say Goodbye

Words could never be anymore true. Song was recently flipped for Rhymefest's Man in the Mirror mixtape.
Last post for today. We will continue tomorrow with solo Michael and his gradual rise to becoming the king.

P School | Dancin' Machine

The group continued well into the 70s. Here they are on the Merv Griffin show. J Dilla flipped the groovy tune for Q-Tip's The Renaissance with "Move."

LIVE | The Roots debut single on Jimmy Fallon

Working second shift I miss everything between 2:30-11, and by the time Jimmy comes on, I'm knocked. So here it is. Real music lives.

P School | It's Great to Be Here

I didn't know it then, but this classic tune was the backdrop to one of my fave tracks from the ladies of 702.

P School | Someway, somehow

Love this song. Rufus ft. Chaka Khan from the album Street Player. I know of only one other voice to conquer this the way Chaka did.

'02 | Are your eyes still green girl?

Ode to love from Mr. Sense and the 'one' Mary. Although his '02 effort, Electric Circus received harsh reviews, this song stands out. Mostly because of the unique video. This is the type of video your mom enjoys as well.

'93 | I have a real man problem

I really don't know why our parents let us listen to this. I couldn''t have been more than six years old. The only song I remember from Queen of the Pack.

SICK | The Art of Noise, Raheem DeVaughn

Radio Raheem drops all new material for new mixtape. Trumps 80% of "R&B" on the radio. Big thanks to HHPRnB Stop. R&B ain't dead either. Click pic to download.

P School | Doesn't take much to make me happy

Classic disco hit from The Emotions. You cannot have any type of old school function without playing this song.

'90|Elevate your mind

To the Class of 2009 Today begins the rest of your life. Define the meaning of your life. "Get a Life" from Soul II Soul's Vol. II: 1990 - A New Decade

'99 | And he's so good to me

Chante Moore. What a woman. She scored her biggest hit with "Chante's Got a Man." I remember hearing this on the radio all the time - in Indianapolis of course. Kenny is a lucky, lucky man.

'92 | This...is....no

Late (sorry). Sade. Her music is international because her music is about one thing: love. And there has been news that an album is in the works for late '09. Love Deluxe
