Precious, a film based on the gritty Push: A Novel by Sapphire, follows the life of an illiterate 16-year-old teen battling the reap of abuse and poverty. Directed by Lee Daniels, the film received high honors at Sundance this year. With a star-studded cast, including an allegedly promising performance by Mariah Carey, Precious looks to be the 'Slumdog' of 2009.
