Coverage begins. Battle commences @ 9. Its been a great journey (Boston/Bulls series still takes the cake), and now we will see if Kobe covets the victory and respect; or, if the Magic can make history with the franchise's first NBA Championship. Where am I; front & center.....at a computer screen scanning med recs at my summer job.
*smh* Amazing indeed. UPDATE : Lakers lead 1-0

SICK | E3: Mass Effect 2

Channel Surfin' | ABC's T.G.I.F.

|
With all the Winslow references, I couldn't resist. Friday nights in the Williams' household routinely out like this: two kids sprawled on the floor, indulging in some Mickey D's value meal. After the news the tv's set to channel 2 for the next two hours. Laughter ensued. Why you ask? T.G.I.F. of course. Their lineup consumed a 11 years of my life with sitcom classics such as Perfect Strangers, Step By Step, Full House, Family Matters, Hanging with Mr. Cooper, Boy Meets World, Two of a Kind, and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Good time, good times.

8709 Special | Shanice or Traci?

|
http://ephemerist.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/cover.jpg
The ladies in R&B have always held healthy competition through the years. Even today you have your usual 'diva' competitors; RiRi vs. Beyonce, Keri vs. Beyonce, _______ vs. Beyonce etc., In the early 90s there were plenty more females in the game, between groups and solo artists, but two in particular held a speical place in my heart and tape deck. Traci Spencer and Shanice both came on the scene at about the same time. Likened to the Brandy and Monica of NJS, these ladies were tit 4 tat on almost everything; talent, likability, adolescent cuteness. They both even made cameos as Eddie Winslow's love interest/key to singing success. What does all this mean; here's the scenario - If you had to choose one, let's say on a deserted island, who would it be. Would you go toward the socially conscious, tender-kissing Traci.....or, the bubbly, girl next door Shanice. Personally I'd prefer Shanice's more "urban" styling. Speak your peace in the comments. If too young to remember or not familiar with either artist, check videos below.

? | Whatever happened to Shavar Ross?

|
I randomly thought of this while YouTubing some old Family Matters episodes. Dude was hilarious as Weasel, and had a variety of roles from Diff'rent Storkes to Friday the 13th. Where is he now?

'92 | Don't make me close one more door

|
I've never seen the movie all the way, but who really needs to see Whitney play a singer. Personally, I know Dolly's song was the big hit from The Bodyguard, but this was always my favorite. Right ahead of the new jack attempt and possibly behind the Chaka cover.

New New | Hammertime

A day after his interview on Regis & Kelly, new Hammer mixtape surfaces. Thanks 2Dopeboyz. hammertime01-400x400

411 | Teens charged as adults in sex assualt

|
Four Tampa teenagers have been charged as adults in a sexual assault case against another male student. According to CNN the four teens of ages between 14-15 years-old, attacked the victim after football practice. The assailants teased the boy, ganging up on him and using a broom stick and hockey stick to sodomize their victim. Supposedly this was not an isolated incident, for witnesses have recalled the attacks as a frequent happening. Three of the four are currently being held at the local jail. Click here for more. I thank God I was never bullied in school, or even found myself in a fight. I cannot imagine the affect this has had on the victim as well as those involved. Seriously where does the motive for this act come from? And why did it take two months to become unearthed to school officials.

New New | "Family Affair" - Wale

|
A Rik Cordero production from his upcoming soundtrack for the film Inside a Change. sidebar: Vote for Cordeo as Director of the Year for the BET Awards. That might be worth watching. Might want to press pause and let the video load.

SOS | We're gonna smooth it out, come on

|
Butterfly Mariah in the pool, on the beach, in a water tunnel, on jet ski....you get the idea. Bad Boy remixes were too cool.

'91| Too Legit to Quit (Full version)

|
Legend in the game. Hands down. People don't dance no more. I mean just wild' out, no prolonged demo to learn the choreography. Just freestyle...cut a rug. Too Legit to Quit is a certified 8709 classic.

'88 | Let me take you to a place I know you wanna go

|
Inner City with "The Good Life" which I never heard until '97 in Beverly Hills. Still love the track.

'90 | Everybody Everybody

|
I think we had this single along with "Strike It Up." From Black Box's Dreamland. I'm pretty sure the video model couldn't sing a lick. That is actually Martha Wash of The Weather Girls fame. They pulled this stunt as well as C+C Music Factory.

'89 | Make my day

|
Technotronic's undeniable party starter. From the club to Space Jam, this song echos "dance" with each pumping rhythm.

'90 | I'm the lyrical Jesse James

|
Snap's club banger from World Power. Classic tune during hip-hop/R&B's freestyle pop era. We'll revisit other similar classics.

411 | President speaks on U.S. relation with Muslims

|
Obama just wrapped up a speech addressing the future relations between America and the Muslim world in Cairo, Egypt. One half history lesson, one half initiation of a 'new beginning,' Obama seeks to establish a dialogue in preparation to eventually lessen the violence and animosity betwixt both parties. (like that vocab huh?) More here.
