It was staged. It's MTV, that is not what we expect. Whatever happened to spontaneous hilarity. I never liked the Movie Awards that much anyway. Found it via MTV from Necole Bitchie.

Who didn't want to be a Soul Train dancer at one point as a child. The black American Bandstand, Soul Train was epic in proportions and its contribution to three generations of music lovers. Form 70s funk to 90s soul, which would be its peak, this Saturday morning classic was our 106 & Park. Don Cornelius was THE man. The voice, his cool demeanor with everyone on the show. And if he wasn't enough the dancers were incredible. If we had not had the Train, our social gatherings would be quite boring without the inevitable Soul Train line!

A tragic story of mistaken identity, or just being black, unfolded in Harlem last Thursday evening. According to the NY Times, an off duty police officer was fatally shot by another just a few hours after completing a late shift. Twenty-three year old Omar Edwards was shot twice as he was approached by three white officers in an unmarked vehicle who had mistaken him as a potential threat. The NYPD are pending an investigation. According to reports, Edwards was in pursuit of a suspect who he had caught attempting to break into his vehicle. As he proceeded to chase the suspect, gun drawn, the other officers rode up from behind Edwards. Being in plain clothes I'm assuming they thought Edwards was a threat, yelled for him to drop his weapon, and as he turned around with gun in hand, 6 rounds were fired. Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene.
